Revisit history. 1995 was forecast to be an average season; but has outsmarted almost every forecaster at its time. The season even though mostly forgotten today, still had devastating storms. Allison was the first June hurricane in years. Erin rapidly intensified to a Category 2 hurricane before landfall in the Florida Panhandle. A parade of storms invaded the Atlantic after Mid-August with at one point, 4 storms active (3 hurricanes and one Tropical Storm). Luis was an exceptionally long lasting Hurricane, causing devastation in Barbuda and Sint Maarten. Marilyn was the second consecutive Carribean Hurricane and damaged many homes in the Virgin Islands as a Category 2. Opal, being the first O-letter named storm since modern naming lists were initiated, was an intense Category 4 storm that disrupted the Gulf Coast of the US. Roxanne, a late major hurricane, lasted longer than usual and devastated Mexico. Now, with 2020 arriving and being the 4th year anniversary of the channel, let's revisit one of the main analogs of this year; 1995.
