@wrightmf5 years ago Thanks for another excellent production, clear concise. I remember back prior to first repack and transition to dtv where a main " selling point" few months ago i saw an spectrum monitor article about the new atsc 3. 0 to take effect next year. Author began with companies mention atsc 3. 0 will enhance your viewer experience like they mention cookies will enhance your web browsing experience. And if you are suspicious you have every right to be because they simply want to collect data and later sell it to advertisers. And once they go atsc 3. 0, your current dtv will need a converter box.
ie broadcast technology society magazine has lots of articles of atsc 3. 0, there was so many changes that they skipped atsc 2. 0. However their issue covering nab show said no atsc 3. 0 tv sets were available (or none were displayed)
other than that, excellent tutorials you have. Much of it i already know but also a good review. And also you clear up stuff like " there is no such thing as a hd antenna. " i kept seeing those ads and thinking rf is rf and a antenna is an antenna. Or am i missing something. No, as you said, simply a gimmick by marketing people

@genesky615 years ago Yes a very good over view of the broadcast tv situations.
atsc = advanced television system committee.
the digital transmission standard atsc 3. 0 is coming, this standard will use a transmission method as a simple explanation know as ofdm.
what this will mean that the public will see right away is vastly improved stability of digital broadcast tv reception.
atsc 3. 0 does a lot more and i mean a lot more.
you can read about atsc 3. 0 on the internet

@shenghe98762 years ago The fcc repack can also be affecting the launch of atsc 3. 0 because the 600 mhz frequency band is being sold to t-mobile and there may not be enough space the 600 mhz cellular band should only be used in rural areas and not urban areas, because there are less cellular transmitters, and lower frequencies can travel longer distances, and also atsc 3. 0 services can be launched in major cities if the lower frequencies are congested. ...Expand 1
